A water feature, such a fountain, can be any desired size, can be free-standing or wall hung; and can be made of just about any material, including concrete (poured stone), fiberglass, bronze or other metal, or a synthetic such as resin.  Each has special characteristics and color availabilities that need to be considered during selection.  Many people like fountains because they find the sound of falling water to be quite soothing.  The fountain can be placed so that it is surrounded by a flower garden, hardscaping, or other ground surface treatment.  In addition to the aesthetic values of a fountain, it also provides a water source for whatever wild life may inhabit or visit your sanctuary. Many artists produce less expensive art that is suitable for your garden or yard and, in some cases may be mass produced, allowing the cost to be substantially reduced.  These items can be both beautiful  and/or whimsical depending on your intent and design.
