About
When my wife, Cece, and I bought our new house in the summer of 2005, we had a vague idea of how we wanted our yard to be developed. That fall on the way back from our annual vacation in Sedona, AZ, we stopped at Avila’s Garden Art yard in Fontana, CA, where we literally fell in love with many items. That day we bought more art than would fit into my little Ranger truck. When I learned that I could buy a trailer for about the same cost as renting one, I probably set a record for buying, outfitting, and taking delivery of a 16-ft trailer. By dark, we were north of the Los Angeles megapolis. The amazing part is that I did not burn up the transmission of my little truck as we pulled the heavily loaded trailer through the mountains along I-5 in northern California and southern Oreg0n on our way to our home in Silverdale, WA.
Once home we began to figure out where we wanted each piece of our yard art to sit and what was to go around it. We are constrained by the septic field which takes up half the yard and we cannot place anything heavy or impervious over it. Most of the rest of the yard is reserve field for the septic and anything placed there must be temporary.
Thus started our experiment in garden art. Visit our “Work in Progess” page to learn more about our successes to date.
