Statuary
Statuary, frequently referred to simply statues can be subdivided in several ways. For the purposes of this website I have chosen to divide statues into human, religious, animals and other objects. Classical statues tend to be humans, possibly with a horse, and often in antiquity the statue was of a god that appeared to be a human. In our current time in history, statues built for public exposure are memorials to people and events of note and frequently portray humans accomplishing some act. For our personal use, statues of humans generally available at reasonable prices are reproductions of famous statues. Within this category is a broad spectrum of art, particularly those done in bronze, that depict individual people and groups of people in some activity. As an example, we have a modest stone (concrete) statue of a small boy in kneeling position with a frog in his hands.

The second category, religious, is almost a subset 0f the human statue group because many of the available items, while religious symbols, take on human looking forms. The remainder of the religious category consists of symbols from the various religions around the world, such as the cross or St. Francis with animals.

Animal statues are popular and vary in size from a few inches to full size. These smaller statues make great additions to gardens to add a little flavor depending on the tastes of the owner. In addition, various animals are also used with ponds to recycle the water back into the pond.

The final category, which I am calling ‘Whimsy“‘, consists of a broad category of artwork that includes statuary of inanimate objects to small works of art intended to complement your garden. These works of art frequently portray small wild life, such as butterflies or insects, and may take the form of decorative garden stakes or free-standing art. These last mentioned art works tend to be the smaller and more affordable items.
Whatever your taste in statuary, you will find a wide variety of materials from stone and poured stone (concrete) to bronze, fiberglass, resin, and wire. It is our desire to bring you a broad variety to choose from so that you can see what your choices are and make an informed decision.
